Douglas Kycia – Principal/Owner
Since 1983, Douglas Kycia has been providing landscape architectural services to a broad range of clients. From public to private, civic to commercial, allied professionals to residential, he strives to satisfy the unique design needs of each. Through a personalized, creative design approach, existing site assets are incorporated with client’s desires and budget to create a beautiful, practical, sustainable landscape. He practices a hands-on approach which includes on-site work with contractors during the construction phase. Many of his projects evolve over years of phased work with clients. A number of his projects have appeared in various publications.
Doug received his B.S. degree from the University of Connecticut in environmental horticulture and landscape design with a focus on art history. He has had a lifelong interest in gardens, architecture and art and draws from his knowledge in these areas for his designs. Broadening his design skills further is valuable experience gained in site and city planning as well as municipal zoning and regulatory issues while working for city planning consultants A. J. Panico and Associates.
As a Member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, he served several terms as an officer on the Connecticut Chapter Executive Board. He has a lifetime of experience working with plants; perennials in particular and maintains his own extensive garden which is still evolving after twenty years of work. Additionally, he captures images of the natural and built world on paper and canvas in watercolors and oils.
